Two Philadelphia bars are named in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from the fatal beating of a 23-year-old man in Philadelphia.

The family of Kevin Kless contends that his three attackers were served alcohol at Lucy’s Hat Shop and G Lounge when they were visibly drunk and two were underage.

Trial testimony during the criminal case showed Kless unsuccessfully tried to hail a taxi and yelled at the cab driver but the three men in a car behind the taxi believed Kless was yelling at them. Kless was beaten unconscious and died.

One man pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and was sentenced to five to ten years in prison. The other two pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and received two- to five-year prison terms. They are also named in the lawsuit.
