A Clearwater man faces a DUI manslaughter charge after his car was involved in a downtown Tampa crash late Wednesday that killed a woman in another car, police said.

Bernadine Davis Smith, 64, of Tampa, was a passenger in a 2007 Toyota Corolla driven by Daniel Galloway, 58, of Tampa, police said. The Corolla was heading east on Twiggs Street and had a green light at Meridian Avenue, police said.

At 11:37 p.m., a 2007 Mercedes-Benz driven by 25-year-old Timothy Wysocki was heading north on Meridian and ran a red light, striking the Corolla, police said.

Smith, of 4928 Marc Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Wysocki exhibited clues of alcohol impairment at the scene and an officer started a DUI investigation,” Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said in a news release.

Officers obtained a search warrant and Wysocki was transported to Tampa General Hospital for a forced blood draw, Davis said.

Wysocki, of 25 Belcher Road N., Apt. J161, was arrested and taken to Hillsborough County’s Orient Road jail with no bail set. He was accused of committing manslaughter while driving under the influence.

Police did not provide information on whether Galloway, of 11937 Lark Song Loop in Riverview, or Wyscoki was injured.
